About the role
The Arborist Team Leader will report directly to the Delivery Manager overseeing and delivering Vegetation Management works on our Utility contracts for our Clients Scottish Power Energy Networks and Northern Power Grid. You will liaise with Clients & Customers and the wider Avove Team of Surveyors, Planners, Safety and Commercial Managers.
You will lead a team of skilled Arborists, including both Direct and Sub-contract resources, to deliver on-site works to the highest standard, exceeding Contract requirements and Client expectations. You will have responsibility and accountability for Operational Delivery and achievement of high Health & Safety standards for you and your staff within your designated area. Works are required to be delivered as per specification, fulfilling contractual requirements and achieving budgeted volumes.
This is a full-time permanent role operating out of our offices in Oswestry, supporting on-site activities across the SPEN Network. There will be additional travel required to our clients' operational sites and offices across the Northwest area.

About you
Are you a skilled and motivated Arborist Team Leader? In this role, you will oversee and coordinate tree care operations, ensuring high standards of safety, efficiency, and quality. You’ll lead a team of arborists on tasks including pruning, removals, planting, and tree health assessments, while liaising with clients and reporting to management. The ideal candidate will have strong leadership skills, extensive arboricultural knowledge, and relevant certifications such as UA Certifications, a current chainsaw ticket, and a first aid forestry ticket. Mobilisation activities are underway after Avove was awarded a groundbreaking long-term contract by Scottish Power Energy Networks. The framework contracts for Vegetation Management activities across five SPEN network areas have been awarded to us. The contract has doubled in size to approximately £10m per annum for a six-year period, enabling significant recruitment and investment in staff and equipment.
