East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust have an exciting opportunity for a Specialist Biomedical Scientist to join us in Haematology & Blood Transfusion at Ipswich Hospital.

It is a friendly and busy MHRA and UKAS compliant hospital laboratory committed to the training and development of staff. We are IBMS accredited for registration and specialist portfolios.

Applicants must have completed their haematology specialist portfolio. Once competent, experienced staff will participate in the out of hours roster which attracts a night rate enhancement for lone working.

We are equipped with Grifols, Sysmex XNs and ACL TOPS analysers. Our LIMS is Lab Centre. Previous working knowledge of these technologies would be an advantage.

Our pathology department is part of the collaborative East Coast Pathology Network.

Responsibilities include:

• Maintaining the quality management system and UKAS accreditation.
• Training and supervision of less experienced members of staff.
• Validating and authorising results and providing a safe quality service for patients.
• Resolving complex equipment or process problems and performing manual, semi‑automated, and fully automated laboratory investigations.
• Managing stock control and usage, including maintaining Blood Transfusion stock levels and records.
