Qualifications

  • Commenced the Diploma of Expert Practice in Histological Dissection Pathology, or equivalent dissection experience
  • Solid histology background, embedding, microtomy, frozen sections, special staining, and quality control
  • Desirable experience in problem solving and staff management

Responsibilities

  • Provide and co-ordinate specialist clinical technical services to patients
  • Manage the dissection areas and specimen reception sections within the laboratory
  • Develop and improve professional expertise and specialist skills
  • Provide training and supervision to staff within the section
  • Participate in training programmes for the advanced dissection role

Skills

Advanced practical analytical skills associated with diagnostic laboratory work
Prepared to work with biological materials
Competence in PC word processing, spreadsheet and database software
Ability to plan and prioritise allocated work

Education

HCPC Registration
MSc, FIBMS or equivalent in relevant discipline
Management training
IBMS Diploma of Expert or Advanced Practice in Histological Dissection
