A public health service in Melrose is seeking a Maintenance Assistant on a fixed term basis. The role involves collecting and delivering vehicles and materials, assisting with vehicle maintenance, and performing cleaning duties. Applicants must hold a full driving licence, with knowledge of vehicle categories B and C1 being crucial. While prior experience in a vehicle workshop is preferred, it is not mandatory. The position requires 37 hours of work from Monday to Friday and includes occasional overtime.
The Scottish Ambulance Service is currently looking to recruit a Maintenance Assistant based at our Melrose Workshop on a fixed term.
Reporting to and under the supervision of the workshop Chargehand, the duties of the post are the collection and delivery of vehicles, documents and materials, assisting with vehicle maintenance, along with labouring and cleaning duties.
It is essential to have a full driving licence and to be licensed to drive vehicle categories B, C1.
A good maintenance aptitude and previous experience in a vehicle workshop environment would be desirable but is not essential. Knowledge of the area is essential.
This is a fixed term position working 37 hours Monday to Friday with occasional overtime and public holiday working.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check done than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a 'regulated role', your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
