A public health organization in Edinburgh seeks a Tobacco Control Practitioner to support smoking cessation efforts. This role, fixed term for 12 months, involves engaging with individuals and partners to enhance outcomes. The department is organised around Population Health and Health Protection. The postholders will work within a Population Health Team which involves place-based working focusing on partnership, prevention, and inequalities.
Reducing the harms from smoking is a key priority for Scotland as we work towards a smokefree nation over the next decade. NHS Lothian is seeking a dynamic individual to join the Quit Your Way team and help us improve our performance supporting people to quit smoking.
The role is a fulltime fixed term post for 12 months that will be based in Pennywell All Care Centre, but it is expected that the post holder will travel throughout Edinburgh to deliver smoking cessation services and engage a variety of partners and agencies.

This post requires the post holder to have a PVG Scheme membership/record. If the post holder is not a current PVG member for the required regulatory group (i.e. child and/or adult) then an application will need to be made to Disclosure Scotland and deemed satisfactory before they can begin in post.
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently the case. If the post is assessed as a "regulated role", your appointment will be subject to joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. If there is any change to what is currently required, this will be confirmed by either the Hiring Manager or the Recruitment Team.
