A healthcare provider in Chertsey is seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join their new mental health inpatient service. This exciting leadership role involves delivering high-quality psychiatric care, leading wards, and collaborating with healthcare teams to support patients through recovery. Ideal candidates will have GMC registration and experience in acute mental health settings, contributing to a supportive and innovative environment focused on client recovery and care improvement.
We are looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join Lyra Ward, a 16-bed female inpatient unit that is part of our new purpose-built Northwest Mental Health Inpatient Service in Chertsey.
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a leadership role in a modern, recovery-focused environment designed to provide high-quality, therapeutic care. The new hospital has been developed to improve access, dignity, and outcomes for people needing acute inpatient mental health support.
You’ll be part of a supportive multidisciplinary team providing care for working-age adults during periods of acute mental distress. As Consultant Psychiatrist, you’ll take Responsible Clinician duties, lead ward rounds, support clinical decision-making, and help shape the service’s ongoing development. You’ll also work closely with Home Treatment Teams, community services, and families to support safe discharge and recovery.
You’ll be joining a Trust that values innovation, co-production, and inclusivity, with a clear vision to deliver outstanding care and support a better life for everyone we serve.
The post-holder will deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients admitted to the ward per the agreed Acute Service Operational Policy. In addition, the post holder will provide clinical leadership and be actively involved in service improvement activities.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will be expected to work effectively with colleagues from other professional disciplines and deliver services consistent with the Trust policy for the Care Programme Approach. The post-holder is also expected to liaise effectively with the other general and specialist teams operating in Surrey to ensure effective handover of care when patients transfer between teams as part of the patient pathway.
We are committed to the health and well‑being of our employees to create a positive work‑life balance, along with a broad range of benefits.
