Qualifications

• Approved under Section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.
• Has undergone training in educational supervision.
• Has undergone training in appraisal.

Responsibilities

• Provide medical assessment, diagnosis and formulation for patients.
• Collaborate with GPs and hospital doctors regarding physical health.
• Lead collaborative initiatives with colleagues in specialist teams.

Skills

High level of clinical skills

Excellent teaching skills

Proven competence in diagnosis and management of psychiatric disorders

Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team

Established record of clinical leadership

Education

MBBS (or equivalent)

Included on GMC Specialist Register

MRCPsych or equivalent qualification

Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field
