We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join Orion Ward, a modern, 16-bed mixed-gender ward within our new Northwest Mental Health Inpatient Service in Chertsey.
This is an exciting time to join our Trust as we expand our purpose-built hospital facilities designed to offer high-quality, therapeutic, and recovery-focused mental health care. Orion Ward supports working-age adults experiencing acute mental health needs. You’ll play a key role in providing clinical leadership and expert psychiatric care within a multi-professional team.
You’ll work alongside nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, activity coordinators, and other clinicians to provide safe, compassionate, and personalised care. Your role will include leading ward rounds, managing admissions and discharges, assessing mental and physical health needs, and working closely with families, carers and community services.

The post-holder will deliver consultant psychiatric input to inpatients admitted to the ward per the agreed Acute Service Operational Policy. In addition, the post holder will provide clinical leadership & be actively involved in service improvement activities.
The Consultant Psychiatrist will be expected to work effectively with colleagues from other professional disciplines & deliver services consistent with the Trust policy for the Care Programme Approach. The post-holder is also expected to liaise effectively with the other general and specialist teams operating in Surrey to ensure effective handover of care when patients transfer between teams as part of the patient pathway.
