Job summary
A growing engineering design consultancy is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager for the regulated water sector in Manchester. The role involves leading and developing multi-disciplinary teams while ensuring the delivery of safe and compliant design solutions. Ideal candidates will have over 10 years in the water industry, strong management skills, and a relevant degree. This opportunity is suitable for both permanent applicants and outside IR35 contractors.
Qualifications
- 10+ years’ experience in the regulated water industry.
- Proven experience managing engineering design teams.
- Strong understanding of civil, MEICA, and process design.
Responsibilities
- Manage and mentor multi-disciplinary engineers and technicians.
- Lead the delivery of design packages.
- Ensure designs are safe, compliant, and value-engineered.
- Drive design efficiency through BIM and digital engineering.

My client is a growing engineering design consultancy delivering projects across the UK regulated water sector. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead and develop multi-disciplinary design teams and deliver high-quality, compliant design solutions.
This role is open to both permanent candidates and Outside IR35 contractors.
- Manage and mentor multi-disciplinary engineers, CAD technicians, and graduates
- Lead the delivery of civil, MEICA, and process design packages
- Ensure designs are safe, compliant, and value-engineered
- Manage integrated design deliverables to programme and budget
- Approve design outputs and manage design change control
- Drive BIM, digital engineering, and design efficiency
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards chartership
- 10+ years’ experience in the regulated water industry
- Strong understanding of civils, MEICA, and process design
- Proven experience managing engineering design teams
- Degree or HND in Civil Engineering (or related discipline)
- Full UK driving licence
