Purpose of the role
The primary focus of this role is to effectively operate, inspect, and maintain an asphalt plant to ensure the production of materials that meet the company's quality standards. This includes planning the production for the
following day based on customer requirements and the plant's capabilities, as well as managing start-up and shut-down procedures while optimizing throughput within the plant's capacity. Additionally, the responsibilities involve
thorough inspection and monitoring of the plant in accordance with the site's established regime.
Maintenance and repair tasks within the individual's scope and competence are vital, and meticulous records must be maintained to
meet management requirements. The role also encompasses refuelling of both static and mobile machines, with operation of mobile plant machinery such as Front-End Loaders (FEL) for loading and plant feed, and dumpers for
mineral movement, as directed by site management. Ensuring the safe and proper operation of machines is of utmost importance.
Furthermore, the position includes conducting maintenance works on both static and mobile plant equipment as required by the manufacturer's guidelines and Heidelberg Materials standards. It's important to note that these duties may also be carried out at other Heidelberg Materials sites in the area, within a reasonable traveling distance. In such cases, transportation or traveling allowances may be provided if the distance exceeds the standard journey.
Key accountabilities
To operate static and mobile plant in a safe and efficient manner
To maintain where required mobile plant in a good order physically with re-fuelling, greasing, cleaning in accordance with the manufacturers and Heidelberg Materials recommendations.
To complete daily inspection sheets of the conditions of static & mobile plant.
To report problems or defects of static & mobile plant to the site supervisor.
To complete near miss reports as required by Site Management.
To operate plant & machinery in an energy efficient manner.
Good timekeeping
Education/Qualification
Good general education required, and large amount of health and safety regulations and Quarry Regulations are required to be understood and carried out.
Certification by EPIC to operate mobile plant.
NVQ level 2 in mobile plant operations required following EPIC completion
