Marine Mechanical Design Engineer (Hybrid)
Job summary
A global technology company in Gateshead is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to design specialist naval deck machinery, including replenishment systems and cranes. The role involves collaboration in a multidisciplinary team throughout the product lifecycle and contributes to research initiatives. Candidates should have a BEng in Mechanical Engineering and experience within the marine industry. The position includes opportunities for professional development and offers a hybrid working arrangement.

Qualifications
- BEng in a Mechanical Engineering discipline or equivalent technical capability.
- Engineering experience relevant to designing naval deck machinery.
- Experience in a highly regulated industry is preferred.
- Excellent understanding of marine or offshore oil and gas industry.
- Competent user of 2D and 3D CAD systems.
Responsibilities
- Develop Mechanical Engineering solutions from requirements capture to in-service support.
- Identify and develop R&D and Continuous Improvement opportunities.
- Investigate Safety and Technical problems using structured methodologies.
- Create technical design appraisal documents for classification societies.
