A community legal service provider is seeking a HOUSING LAWYER to volunteer twice a term, providing online legal advice to clients. This role involves conducting interviews and collaborating with students to enhance their research skills. Ideal candidates will be qualified Solicitors or Barristers with over 3 years of experience. The commitment includes attending two sessions each term during Autumn and Spring.
HOUSING LAWYER needed!
We are looking for student friendly lawyers (Solicitors/Barristers (3 year+ PQE)) to volunteer twice a term, online, although interviews can take place in person if you prefer.
We receive a number of housing inquiries and would therefore like to be able to offer this service again.
How we work:
After the client is triaged by the students, we book a 50-60 minute appointment for the client to see a volunteer lawyer.
The service is advice only so does not involve casework although we do sometimes allow a further appointment, if deemed necessary.
The students conduct research and sit in on the interview to take notes. The volunteer lawyer interviews the client and provides oral advice.
We then work with the students on their research and drafting skills to prepare a letter which then sent to the volunteer lawyer to check whether the contents are correct.
We only ask that you attend two sessions during each term (Autumn and Spring).
