Clinical/Counselling Psychologist/Therapist

Are you looking for a role that combines formulation based individual, group, family, and team interventions? Do you enjoy being part of a dynamic team working creatively? Would you like to expand your experience by being part of a supportive inpatient team and be a part of developing the service? Then come join our psychology team, part of a wider MDT, supporting people diagnosed with an Eating Disorder in an inpatient setting.

Haldon offer an inpatient MDT led programme to enable people to stabilise both physically and psychologically which involves groups, individual and family interventions. We offer formulation based interventions, working with the complex needs and experiences that patients present with, and in particular we focus on trauma survival and neurodiversity needs. We work with the community CORE adult and Community Eating Disorder Teams across the South West as well the new Eating Disorder Outreach Team (EDOT) to enable patients to continue their psychological journey after transitioning back to the community.

Main duties of the job

This role will take the lead for the group programme, with support from the Assistant Psychologists and wider MDT, and have their own caseload for individual and family work.

The role involves supervising Assistant Psychologists, and where relevant Trainees, as well as offering consultation and psychological guidance to the wider MDT.

As a service we are keen to develop the evidence base for the interventions we offer and therefore this role will involve service development which we hope to disseminate to the wider profession.

Job responsibilities

The principal purpose of the job is to improve the psychological health & wellbeing of people within the Haldon Eating Disorder Service including those within new Eating Disorder Outreach Team (EDOT) where relevant.

This will be achieved in this post through undertaking the following areas of responsibility:

1. Providing a psychological perspective to the treatment of peoplewithin the Haldon Eating Disorder Service including those within the new Eating Disorder Outreach Team (EDOT) where relevant.

2. Providing local clinical leadership, consultation and supervision for trainees, Assistant Psychologists and volunteers employed by or attached to the Haldon/EDOT service, under the general direction and supervision of the Professional Lead.

3. Providing specialist psychological assessments and psychotherapeutic interventions to people served by the Haldon Eating Disorder Serviceincluding those within new Eating Disorder Outreach Team (EDOT) where relevant.Utilizing evidence-based models of treatment for people with eating disorders including CBT as well as formulation based interventions for trauma e.g. EMDR.

4. Close working with the multidisciplinary team in the inpatient and day programme setting, including dissemination of person-centered formulations, consultation, support, supervision and training.

5. Carrying a specialist caseload of clients, and providing advice and consultancy to patients, family members, carers and professionals.

6. The post holder will be supported by senior eating disorder colleagues. The post holder will be expected to make good use of the expertise of others within the service to further develop their clinical skills with this client group.

7. To work autonomously within professional guidelines and exercise responsibility for the systematic governance of psychological practice within the Haldon Eating Disorder Service and EDOT.

8. The post holder will receive regular professional and clinical supervision in accordance to Trust policy and to Professional Practice Guidelines set out by the British Psychological Society or appropriate designated Professional Body. Observe, and abide by all relevant Professional Codes of Conduct and Practise including the British Psychological Society. The post holder will be fully registered with the Health Professions Council as a condition of employment.

Qualifications
  • 1. Qualified Clinical Psychologist (D.Clin.Psychol. or equivalent), eligible for Chartered Clinical Psychologist Status in the British Psychological Society/Counselling Psychologist/Psychotherapist/Therapist
  • 2. Registration with HCPC/UKCP/Other Specialist regulatory body
Experience
  • 1. Experience, and/or training in diversity awareness and social inequality
  • 1. Experience of specialist psychological assessment and treatment of clients across a wide range of care settings, including outpatient, community, primary care and in patient settings.
  • 2. Experience gained during supervised training of working in eating disorders.
  • 3. Experience of teaching, training and/or supervision.
