Now, we’re looking for a passionate and sharp Content Writer and Editorial Assistant to help us tell those stories.

As Content Writer and Editorial Assistant, you’ll:

• Write articles, interviews, and features focused on engineering


• Research and fact-check technical subjects with accuracy and clarity


• Help manage editorial calendars, source stories, and prepare content for publication


• Assist with newsletter production and social media posts


• Work closely with the founder and editorial team to refine Lightbulb’s voice and reach

Must-Have:

• Excellent written English and strong storytelling ability


• Proven interest in science, technology, engineering, or innovation journalism


• Ability to research and translate complex technical topics for a wider audience


• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy


• Enthusiasm for building something bold and fresh

Nice to Have:

• Experience writing for a publication, blog, newsletter, or university paper


• Degree (or working towards one) in Journalism, English, STEM, or related fields


• Basic knowledge of publishing and collaboration tools (Ghost, Slack, Google Workspace preferred)


• Photography, podcasting, or video editing skills a plus

Ready to be part of something groundbreaking? We're looking for someone who shares our passion for making breakthrough engineering accessible and inspiring.

The hiring process is straightforward: submit your application with a brief cover letter explaining why you're excited about Lightbulb's mission, plus 2-3 writing samples (published work, university essays, or personal projects all welcome). We'll review applications on a rolling basis and reach out for a casual video chat with promising candidates. We're more interested in your curiosity, writing ability, and enthusiasm than formal credentials.

This is a chance to help build a media company from the ground up while developing your skills in science and technology journalism. You'll work directly with our founder and have real input on editorial direction as we grow.
