Job summary
A recruitment agency is seeking a Mechanical Fitter in Huddersfield on a permanent basis. Ideal candidates will have over 4 years of hands-on manufacturing experience and qualifications in Mechanical Engineering. Responsibilities include mechanical assembly of automotive components, maintaining machinery, and involvement in design development using CAD. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential for this role, along with a solid understanding of manufacturing processes.

- Excellent ability to read and work to technical drawings.
- Basic understanding of electrical systems required.

ROLE Mechanical Fitter
SALARY per annum (dependent on experience)

LOCATION Huddersfield
My client provides bespoke products and engineering solutions for the Automotive industry. They are looking for a Mechanical Fitter to join their team in the Huddersfield area on a permanent basis.
- HNC / HND / BTEC / NVQ / Degree qualified in Mechanical Engineering or similar
- 4 or more years industry experience ideally working in a hands‑on manufacture / assembly role
- Experience working with CNC milling and turning machinery would also be beneficial
- Experience working with Gearboxes valves compressors enclosures conveyors and piping systems machinery
- Able to read and work to technical drawings
- Excellent proficiency with CAD software ideally SolidWorks or similar
- Basic understanding of electrical systems
- Good mathematical and general engineering knowledge
- Excellent knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials sheet metal castings machining etc.
- Be technically minded and proactive with a head for problem solving
- Self‑motivated with excellent attention to detail
- Have excellent communication skills both verbal and written
- Mechanical assembly of various products
- Working to company standards for test and repair
- Maintaining equipment and machinery
- Working on automotive components : gearboxes valves compressors enclosures conveyors and piping systems machinery
- Performing development activities and finding new mechanical solutions
- Performing assembly and disassembly tasks
- Being involved in the product design and development process using CAD
- Producing the relevant documentation that is required
- Driving continuous improvement
