We are looking for an ambitious Biomedical Scientist to join our dedicated team within North West London Pathology. Applications are sought from self-motivated individuals with experience of working in a busy and dynamic blood sciences laboratory, or haematology and blood transfusion laboratory, or clinical biochemistry laboratory.

We are looking for excellent technical, interpersonal and IT skills and for an individual who has a drive to develop their knowledge and skills and help take biomedical science development forward into the future. Your ability to communicate effectively and work independently or collaboratively will make you a perfect fit for our team.

• Take part in staff rotation, providing a high-quality analytical service in all sections, followingstandard operating procedures
• Contributes to providing a professional laboratory service, working effectively as a teammember as part of the overall department.
• Provides basic clinical technical services to patients that may include research and audit.
• As a registered BMS you will be:encouraged to undertake specialist training in the relevant discipline leading to theattainment of the IBMS Specialist Diploma.
• Able to perform all core scientific and interpretive work, which corresponds to the training and qualifications of a Registered Healthcare Scientist.
• Expected to develop and improve your professional expertise

NWLP Induction

The NWLP induction will run on the first Monday of each month (provided it does not fall on a bank holiday) and includes laboratory training (for relevant laboratory roles). All new staff must attend the NWLP induction during their first week with NWLP.

• Registration with the HCPC as a biomedical scientist

• Detail-oriented and methodical: Ability to follow instructions precisely and maintain well-organized work processes.
• Strong communication skills: Effective communicator with the ability to present information clearly; reliable and trustworthy in all interactions
• Numerate and quick learner: Proficient with numerical data and able to rapidly grasp new concepts and techniques.
• Team player with self-motivation: Works collaboratively as part of a team while demonstrating self-motivation and initiative
• Customer Service experience

• Basic scientific skills appropriate to a pathology laboratory
• Demonstrates continual learning through academic or practical experience
• Work experience in a relevant diagnostic laboratory
• Knowledge of health and safety issues.
