Job summary

A manufacturing company near Manchester is seeking a Laboratory Colourist to develop, match, and test colours for textiles and fabrics. This full-time position requires a degree in Colour Science or relevant experience and practical laboratory skills. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK. Monday to Friday, 07:30 - 16:30 schedule.

Overview

CK Group are recruiting for a Laboratory Colourist to join a manufacturing company that uses coatings on their products, at their site based near Manchester on a full time, permanent basis.

The company manufactures textiles and fabrics and this role will play a critical role in developing, matching, and testing colours. This role is Monday - Friday, 07:30 - 16:30.

Location

This Laboratory Colourist role is located near Manchester, easily commutable from Stockport, Glossop, Macclesfield and other surrounding areas.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct liquor evaluations, shade matching, and shade corrections
  • Raise, place, and monitor works orders
  • Perform laboratory testing on both uncoated and coated fabrics
  • Approve production batches against master standards
  • Carry out quality checks on raw materials, including chemicals, to verify suitability for use
  • Prepare and handle swatches for shade approvals
Qualifications
  • Education - Degree or equivalent experience in Colour Science or related discipline
  • Demonstrated ability in colour formulation, adjustment, and shade matching
  • Practical, hands-on experience in a production laboratory environment, preferably within textiles, coatings, or paints
  • Entitlement to work in the UK is essential
