A healthcare community trust in Maidstone is offering an exciting opportunity in the Community Hospital Inpatient Bed Management team. You will manage bed availability and patient flow, ensuring efficient operations. The role necessitates liaising with clinical teams and optimising processes for patient admissions and discharges. We seek individuals who exemplify our values of compassion and excellence. Join us in contributing to community healthcare services.
An exciting secondment opportunity has arisen to join the Community Hospital Inpatient Bed Management team based at Maidstone Hospital. Community hospitals provide a range of comprehensive healthcare services for patients over the age of 18, mainly older, frailer individuals. The units predominantly provide rehabilitation and end‑of‑life support for palliative patients and their families. Patients are referred to the ward either from the acute setting to allow a further period of rehabilitation and assessment or directly from home via their GP or local community nursing teams. The Bed Management team is responsible for triaging patients and allocating them to the most appropriate bed and location. Although there is no direct patient care, it is important to understand the role of a Ward Band 6 and the responsibilities they have when caring for our patients.
Rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC, we pride ourselves on delivering high standards of patient care and excellent services to improve the health of our communities. We need outstanding people who share our values of compassion, aspiration, responsiveness, and excellence.
We know a commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion leads to better patient care and a happier workforce. We welcome applications from people with varied backgrounds, perspectives, and experiences. We ask for information about your protected characteristics on our application forms. This information is not visible to anyone involved with short‑listing or interviewing you, except when you choose to be considered under the guaranteed interview scheme due to disability. Short‑listers will see two tick boxes alongside your application to ensure they apply the principles of the scheme. The data we collect helps us ensure we are attracting diversity in our applicants, that all our colleagues have equitable access to career opportunities, and supports us on our journey to being a Great Place to Work.
As a community Trust many of our roles require individuals to be able to drive to perform their duties. You will be asked to confirm that you have a full UK driving licence where driving is a requirement of the role. We are committed to supporting candidates with disabilities into employment; if you are unable to drive due to a disability, please contact the Recruitment Team at kentchft.recruitment@nhs.net quoting the vacancy reference number so we can support you further.
The job description and person specification give you all the information you need about this role. Please look carefully at the criteria in the person specification and tell us what you have done that shows you meet these in your application. If you need an application form in an alternative format please let our recruitment team know. All information you supply on your application should, to the best of your knowledge, be true and accurate.
