Job description

As a Senior Day Coach at this Ofsted rated “Good” home in Croydon, you'll still be on the floor, side by side with the young people – but your added value is in the expertise you share with others. You'll be the one junior staff look to when a situation escalates, showing them how to stay calm, keep safe, and use positive strategies. You'll support your Team Leaded and be a role model in the hardest moments, helping newer colleagues grow in confidence.

The young people here are strong, determined, and each live with autism and complex processing needs. Their behaviours can include aggression such as hitting, spitting, hair pulling, or ripping clothes. Some express themselves through very challenging language – from racial abuse to graphic conversations – and others are drawn into online obsessions.

What You'll Do

Your focus is to support both young people and your colleagues with consistency and professionalism:

  • Support children with autism, epilepsy, diabetes, and mental health challenges.
  • Step into difficult incidents and model safe, professional practice.
  • Share your expertise in behaviour management with junior staff.
  • Provide personal care with dignity and respect.
  • Offer informal coaching and encouragement to Day Coaches.
  • Maintain accurate records and communication.
What We're Looking For

We're seeking experienced practitioners who can balance care with coaching:

  • Strong background in autism and behaviours that challenge.
  • Skilled in de-escalation and safe interventions.
  • Calm and professional when faced with aggression or offensive language.
  • Physically fit, resilient, and reliable.
  • Able to mentor others by example, not just instruction.
Benefits Working at SuperCare

We'll recognise your expertise and invest in your continued growth:

  • Salary 20% above sector average.
  • 36 days of advanced training annually.
  • Fully funded Level 3 Diploma (if not already held).
  • Private healthcare and GP-on-demand.
  • Gym stipend and wellbeing support.
  • Pension and bonus scheme.
  • Free parking and car access to transport young people.
  • Pathway into Team Leader roles.
