Permanent, Full time.

Location: Royal Mail, 185 Farringdon Road, London, EC1A 1AA - hybrid working with 3 days per week in the office.

About the role

At Royal Mail, we serve every community in the UK, and we believe our workforce should reflect and represent the people we deliver for every day.

We're looking for a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Lead to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering our DEI strategy. This is a senior leadership role for someone who is passionate about creating inclusive workplaces, comfortable working across complex organisations, and skilled at turning strategy into meaningful, measurable change.

You'll work closely with senior leaders, HR colleagues, and employee networks to embed DEI into how we lead, engage our people, and make decisions – ensuring everyone at Royal Mail feels valued, respected, and able to thrive.

What you'll be doing
  • Lead the development and delivery of Royal Mail's DEI strategy, embedding inclusive and equitable practices across the organisation.
  • Work with senior leaders, HR Business Partners, and Centres of Excellence to integrate DEI into business planning, decision‑making, and talent processes.
  • Design and deliver impactful DEI programmes and learning that build capability and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging.
  • Lead and support Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) and inclusion networks, helping them deliver meaningful impact.
  • Drive DEI employee engagement through insight‑led activity, including surveys, listening sessions, and targeted action planning.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to leaders and HR colleagues on DEI matters.
  • Build strong internal and external partnerships and represent Royal Mail in DEI forums and industry networks.
  • Ensure DEI activity aligns with legislation, internal policies, and best practice, working closely with Legal, Policy, and Compliance teams.
What we're looking for
  • Significant experience leading DEI programmes or organisational change in a complex environment.
  • Proven track record of delivering measurable outcomes in DEI and cultural transformation.
  • Strong understanding of DEI frameworks, employment law, and inclusive HR practices.
  • Excellent programme management skills with the ability to balance strategy and delivery.
  • Confidence working with senior stakeholders and influencing at all levels.
  • A data‑informed approach, combined with empathy and a deep understanding of organisational culture.
  • A commitment to inclusion, equity, and fairness, and the ability to bring others with you on that journey.
Why join Royal Mail?

You’ll have the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact in an organisation that touches every community in the UK. We’re committed to building a workplace where difference is valued and everyone has the opportunity to succeed.

Extra Benefits
  • Family friendly support – enhanced maternity pay, paternity leave, adoption leave and shared parental leave.
  • Discounts and offers – there are more than 800 offers to help you save on things like groceries, days out, holidays, and your household bills.
  • Supportive and generous company sick pay
  • Your Wellbeing – you and your family have 24/7 access to services and tools to help you get the most out of life, from physical and mental health to financial and social support and advice. It’s free, and it’s for everyone.
Next Steps

The next stage of the selection process will be a face‑to‑face/virtual interview consisting of competency‑based and role‑specific questions.

We understand that candidates may not meet all the criteria for the role. If your experience is different, but you have relevant skills, we’d love to hear from you.
