A railway maintenance service provider in Crewe is seeking a Heavy Maintenance Fitter to join their team. The role involves maintaining and overhauling rail vehicles, operating within depot limits and ensuring adherence to safety procedures. Candidates should possess a minimum Level 3 qualification in Engineering, along with good knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering. This position offers the opportunity to work Monday to Friday with a competitive salary.

Salary – £40,018.66 per annum
At Arriva TrainCare we provide high quality overhaul, maintenance and servicing of passenger rolling stock, locomotives, freight wagons and track plant. We operate throughout the UK from six strategic locations – Crewe, Bristol, Eastleigh, Cambridge, Tyne Yard and Scarborough.

We have some exciting new opportunities to join our Heavy Maintenance team within the Crewe depot to support with upcoming projects. Within this role work will vary depending on the projects we have available for general tasks include fitting floors, panelling, seating, tables, windows and doors within the interior of the rolling stock. Electrical tasks can involve installation and replacement of traction and rolling stock components and carrying out modifications in accordance with specified procedures and ability to install and terminate vehicle control wiring harnesses.
Carry out maintenance and overhaul of Rail Vehicles to laid down standards and procedures
Carry out work allocated by the Service Delivery Leader to the recognised standards
Operate rail vehicles, within depot operating limits, in accordance with relevant operating procedures
Ensure that safety procedures and documents are adhered to in accordance with VMI and local work instructions
Ensure work sheets are signed off on completion of work
Use of correct PPE with standards and local instructions
Qualifications – minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Engineering
Experience – previous experience, involvement and understanding of rail vehicle maintenance activities is desirable
Knowledge – good understanding of depot operations with the ability to interpret engineering drawings.
Engineering – strong understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering
