Lead Developer - .NET
Job summary
A public-sector recruitment firm seeks an experienced Lead Developer to join their team on a 12-month contract. This hybrid role requires strong technical leadership in delivering scalable solutions aligned with the Value for Members programme. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with .NET, C#, and cloud development using Azure, alongside a solid understanding of CI/CD practices. The position offers a daily rate of £660 (Inside IR35) and involves flexible onsite days in Brighton.
Qualifications
- Strong experience with .NET and C# is essential.
- Cloud development experience using Azure is necessary.
- Experience with Playwright and Selenium for test automation is required.
- Understanding of modern development practices and CI/CD is critical.
- Must have proven experience in a lead or senior developer capacity.
- Experience within complex or public-sector environments is desirable.
Responsibilities

Skills

We are working with a public‑sector organisation on a key programme focused on Value for Members (VfM) and are seeking an experienced Lead Developer to play a critical role in the delivery of this initiative.
This is a senior, hands‑on role where you will provide technical leadership, guide development best practice, and work closely with delivery teams to build scalable, high‑quality solutions that directly support VfM objectives.
- Lead the design and development of solutions aligned to the Value for Members programme
- Provide hands‑on development and technical leadership across the team
- Work closely with architects, testers, product managers, and stakeholders
- Ensure code quality, performance, security, and maintainability
- Support and influence best practice across development and testing activities
- Strong experience with .NET and C#
- Cloud development experience using Azure
- Experience working with Playwright and Selenium (test automation awareness/interaction)
- Strong understanding of modern development practices and CI/CD
- Proven experience operating in a lead or senior developer capacity
- Experience working within complex, regulated, or public‑sector environments is desirable
- Hybrid model: 4 days per month on‑site in Brighton (flexible on which days)
- Contract length: 12 months
