Job summary
A leading recycling and circular economy firm in Southeast England is looking for a Group Head of HSE. This pivotal role requires over 10 years of HSE leadership experience to drive compliance and best practice across sites, ensuring the highest health, safety, and environmental standards. The ideal candidate will possess the NEBOSH Diploma and demonstrate the ability to engage at all organizational levels. This is a permanent position with a salary range of £70-80,000.
Qualifications
- 10+ years' HSE leadership experience, ideally in waste management.
- Proven ability to deliver strategic safety initiatives across multi-site operations.
- Deep knowledge of UK HSE legislation and ISO standards.

The company has strong investment, ambitious growth plans and you'll be leading health, safety, and environmental standards across a nationwide network, driving best practice and compliance as the company integrates multiple regional operations.
- Leading and implementing a group-wide HSE strategy to ensure compliance, continuous improvement and a proactive safety culture across all subsidiaries.
- Driving governance and compliance, including ISO certifications, audits, and acting as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies and stakeholders.
- Providing operational oversight, supporting site teams with risk assessments, incident investigations, and performance monitoring to improve safety metrics.
- Championing cultural change and training, engaging at all levels to embedding safe behaviours, mentoring HSE professionals, and delivering impactful safety campaigns.
- 10+ years' HSE leadership experience, ideally in waste management; proven ability to deliver strategic safety initiatives across multi-site operations.
- NEBOSH Diploma (Level 6+), Chartered IOSH (or working towards), deep knowledge of UK HSE legislation and ISO standards.
- Ability to communicate with gravitas to engage at Board level and frontline, driving cultural and behavioural change.
- Flexibility to travel nationwide.
