Job summary
A leading garden centre group in Norwich is seeking a Plant Area Manager to oversee all aspects of plant care and presentation. You will manage a dedicated team and make data-driven commercial decisions to enhance sales and minimize waste. The ideal candidate should have experience in garden centre management and strong horticultural knowledge. This is a hands-on role perfect for someone passionate about plants and retail management.
Qualifications
- Experience as a plant area manager in a garden centre or similar environment.
- Knowledge across all plant categories is crucial.
- Proven leadership capabilities with a focus on team motivation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the presentation and care of hardy, seasonal, and house plants.
- Manage inventory and make decisions to enhance sales results.
- Lead and develop a team of staff in a fast-paced environment.
Skills
Plant Area Manager
Hours: 40 hours/week (Alternate weekends)
Location: Worcester

It’s a tight-knit operation, very hands‑on, and a real labour‑of‑love project, making this role perfect for someone who’s passionate about their plants and a strong retail manager.
Your Role:
- Take responsibility for hardy, seasonal and house plants, ensuring high standards and consistent presentation throughout
- Manage ordering, allocations, volumes, and commercial decisions to maximise sales and minimise wastage
- Lead a team of around five staff (more in peak), motivating and directing them to deliver exceptional results
- Work closely with the Centre Manager and deputise when required, supporting wider site operations
- Make strong, data-backed commercial decisions using your plant knowledge and retail experience
- Maintain an engaging, well‑stocked, plant‑heavy environment despite a limited indoor footprint
