We are recruiting for a Consultant within our friendly and well‑established Surgical Specialties Division to expand colorectal surgery capacity and enhance the sub‑specialty focus of our existing consultants and the on‑call rota.

You will join an existing team of 16 consultants: 4 upper GI (1 fixed term), 7 colorectal, four breast and one vascular, providing surgical care in Chesterfield for patients from North Derbyshire and surrounding areas.

With the General Surgery Department’s expansion, on‑call frequency will adjust once additional consultants join.

• Provide regular colonoscopy lists and collaborate with colorectal surgeons to deliver the subspecialty service and cancer pathway.
• Commit to the duty‑surgeon daytime general on‑call rota, including night on‑call duties.
• Contribute to the development of new, more effective patient care pathways.
• Support the department’s expansion and modify on‑call demands as required.

• Demonstrated index logbook operations for emergency surgery and elective benign colorectal surgery.
• Capability to function as a general and benign colorectal surgeon, with access to departmental mentorship.
• Interest in inflammatory bowel disease is welcome.
