Overview

Suffolk County Council – Address: Endeavour House, Ipswich IP1 2BX – Hybrid working. Salary: £28,598 per annum (pro rata for part time). Hours: 37 hours per week – Flexible working options available. Contract: Permanent.

Your role and responsibilities
  • Responding to planning consultations on behalf of the Local Highway Authority, liaising with internal and external stakeholders to agree design principles for new development.
  • Working to secure infrastructure improvements to mitigate the impact of development using your highways and planning expertise.
  • Enhancing transport accessibility for all in Suffolk.
You will need
  • Passion for promoting high standards of sustainable transport in new developments by influencing a wide audience as to the benefits for the people of Suffolk.
  • The ability to work within procedures and guidelines and deliver to set timescales.
  • An understanding of highway design and construction and relevant sections of the Highway Act.
  • Ability to represent the team at meetings with internal and external organisations, providing expert advice in your area of work, sometimes in challenging circumstances.

The team

The Transport Planning Team forms part of the wider Transport Strategy team, helping to deliver growth across Suffolk. This includes Development Management to ensure new developments are sustainable in highway terms to support Suffolk’s growth ambitions. We secure funding and the delivery of new transport infrastructure and initiatives, including active travel. You will be part of a team that provides comments on the suitability of new development in highway terms to local planning authorities.
