A leading rail technology company in Doncaster is looking for a Locomotive Technician to perform maintenance and repair activities on diesel-electric locomotives. Job description
Overview

Locomotive Technician – Balby, Doncaster, DN4 0JT

from £39,960 pa subject to experience (£33,300 base salary DoE + 20% shift allowance). 37.5 hours per week. 8-week rota of days and nights. 4 on 5 off, 5 on 4 off. 4 weekends in every 8.

Responsibilities
  • Carrying out maintenance, repair, overhaul, modification and fault-finding activities
  • Lead engineer for contracts, projects or tasks as necessary to support operational performance
  • Assisting other engineers on the team
  • Conducting audits in line with Company quality management standards and processes
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Acting as a role model of Quality, Health and Safety and Environmental Policies
  • Working in line with legislation and rail industry requirements
Shift Pattern

You will work a shift cycle that runs over an 8 week period, working 4 on 5 off, then 5 on 4 off.

Day shifts: 06:00-17:30

Late shifts: 19:00-06:00

The shift pattern requires you to work 4 weekends in every 8 week cycle.

What we would love you to bring to the role
  • L3 Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship or equivalent
  • Driving license (B/ B1)
  • Demonstrable history of working effectively with Diesel engineering technology and associated systems and controls
  • Self-starter and a team player, able to coach and help others to get the job done to a high-standard
  • A strong communicator with ability to build relationships across the organisation
  • A logical, analytical and objective approach to problem solving and fault diagnosis
  • High level of professionalism & strong sense of customer satisfaction
Requirements

You'll need to be based close to our Doncaster depot and have a valid right to work in the UK
