Overview

We need an experienced Production Manager to run our manufacturing facility in Rutland. Reporting into the Managing Director and running a facility which is engineering and assembly, including production planning. There is a genuine Director level career path for you if you are the right person. Your leadership experience should cover some of all the following: machining, fabrication, welding, assembly, coating/spraying.

BASIC SALARY: Up to A GBP 55,000 dependant on your relevant experience

Job Description

We are looking for our new Production Manager. We are open on where your production experience comes from, but it will be engineering, industrial or machinery related, including machinery, equipment or vehicle manufacturing and covering relevant manufacturing processes like machining, fabrication, welding, assembly. Our environment is low volume manufacturing with a lot of 1s and 2s and prototyping.

You will be responsible for production planning, and you will be supported by three shop floor Supervisors who are responsible for different areas.

About 50% of our machinery and equipment is manufactured for stock, and the other 50% is bespoke machinery or re-engineered to the client’s exact specification. You will be challenged to help improve the functionality of our production facility.

You will lead the weekly production meeting with Team Leaders and also report to other Managers and Senior Managers on a regular basis. You will report directly to the Managing Director.

Responsibilities
  • Have responsibility for the successful production and despatch of products to customers
  • Oversee production planning and procurement to ensure parts, components and raw materials are available when needed so production isn’t disrupted
  • Accountable for reviewing WIP and closing WIP jobs down fully when they’re completed
  • Manage production time sheets to ensure production accuracy
  • Support your Supervisors to resolve production issues and manage the shop floor teams
  • Develop and lead the production facility with a hands-on approach and continuous improvement mindset
Requirements
  • Proven work experience as a Production Manager, Controller, Coordinator or similar from an engineered, industrial or machinery manufacturing environment
  • Open on the machinery or equipment you have been involved with producing, with preference for Automotive, Special Purpose Machinery, Vehicles or Industrial backgrounds
  • Commercially minded with a focus on meeting customer needs and understanding the impact of the production department
