A leading UK food manufacturer is seeking a Hands‑on Engineering Team Leader to join their high‑performing production site in Forest Gate, East London. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with leadership experience who enjoys a mix of hands‑on maintenance, team supervision, and continuous improvement within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers on shift, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all production and packaging equipment, and driving performance across engineering KPIs.
- Supervise and support a team of multi‑skilled engineers on shift
- Deliver and monitor engineering KPIs and ensure production targets are achieved
- Carry out both reactive and planned preventive maintenance (PPM)
- Liaise with sub‑contractors and manage project‑based engineering tasks
- Maintain and repair a variety of equipment including conveyors, mixers, boilers, coolers, pneumatics, control panels, and motors
- Fault‑find and work with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley) and relay logic systems
- Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture across the team
- Ensure compliance with all site and engineering standards
- Time‑served, multi‑skilled engineer with an electrical bias
- Proven experience within an FMCG or industrial manufacturing environment
- Previous experience as a senior engineer or team leader is essential
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
