Engineering Team Leader - Forest Gate, London

Shift Pattern: 4 on, 4 off (2 days, 2 nights, 4 off) - 12-hour shifts

About the Role

A leading UK food manufacturer is seeking a Hands‑on Engineering Team Leader to join their high‑performing production site in Forest Gate, East London. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a technically strong engineer with leadership experience who enjoys a mix of hands‑on maintenance, team supervision, and continuous improvement within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment.

You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers on shift, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of all production and packaging equipment, and driving performance across engineering KPIs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise and support a team of multi‑skilled engineers on shift
  • Deliver and monitor engineering KPIs and ensure production targets are achieved
  • Carry out both reactive and planned preventive maintenance (PPM)
  • Liaise with sub‑contractors and manage project‑based engineering tasks
  • Maintain and repair a variety of equipment including conveyors, mixers, boilers, coolers, pneumatics, control panels, and motors
  • Fault‑find and work with PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley) and relay logic systems
  • Promote and maintain a strong health and safety culture across the team
  • Ensure compliance with all site and engineering standards
About You
  • Time‑served, multi‑skilled engineer with an electrical bias
  • Proven experience within an FMCG or industrial manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience as a senior engineer or team leader is essential
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast‑paced environment
