The Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) for Bedfordshire has an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team of the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) as our Head of Policy and Missions.
One of the core responsibilities of the Head of Policy and Missions is to support the development and delivery of the Police and Crime Plan.
As the Head of Policy and Missions, you will provide leadership, guidance, and oversight of the commissioning function and the restorative justice team, including managing staff performance, development, and welfare.
The Head of Policy and Missions will also oversee the work of the Policy team, undertake research, and gather objective evidence to support policy making, influence decisions, and ensure that the Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) and Deputy Police and Crime Commissioner (DPCC) stay ahead of policy changes.
The PCC aims to reduce crime and deliver an effective police service within their area. They are elected to hold Chief Constables and the force accountable, ensuring police responsiveness to community needs.
PCCs work to meet community needs effectively, improve local relationships, build confidence, and restore trust. They collaborate across agencies at local and national levels to prevent and reduce crime.
The role of the OPCC is to support the statutory functions of a PCC, primarily focusing on delivering the Police and Crime Plan.
The OPCC's staff deliver core functions such as policy and performance, governance, commissioning, communication, engagement, complaints handling, budgeting, finance, restorative justice, and partnership working.
