HMNB Devonport

Job Summary

Devonport Naval Base is the largest Naval Base in Europe. The Base is primarily focused on delivering timely deep maintenance to the UK’s submarine fleet. It is also the operating home base for frigates, amphibious Ships, Royal Marines. It is the nerve centre for the Royal Navy in the South West. It supports operations around the globe and provides the ships, submarines, people, and equipment to deliver the UK’s defence policy. Its mission is to meet the support and operating requirements for the Naval Service and UK’s allies.

Flexible working is available by agreement with the line manager, but due to the nature of the role, candidates must be prepared to spend the majority of their time on site (Civil Service expectation is 60% presence in office per week).

This position is advertised at 37 hours per week.

As part of the Supply Chain Manager (SCM)’s organisation, in support of Logistics Officer Naval Stores (LO NS) and Procurement Officer to assist in the operation of the Devonport Naval Stores Office and act as part of the Intelligent Customer team to provide oversight of NBC(D) Service Provider stores operations.

Job Description

Duties include:

Support LO NS in managing the Devonport Naval Stores account as deputy Unit Application Administrator (UAA). Prioritise workload and ensure all Management of the Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI) outputs and authorised demands are input to meet Require Delivery Date (RDD).

Support the Procurement Officer for the purchase of stores for NBC(D) Customers including Stationery, NATO Standard Pallets, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), Defence Accommodation Stores(DAS), CP&F and Team Leidos e CAT for Units Financially supported by NBC(D).

Provide guidance for the MJDI Articles in Use (AinU) Custodians on the correct management of their accounts including demand, receipting and Reverse Supply Chain. Communicate via a variety of media.

Meet requirements of Royal Navy compliancy checks and controls, and complete tier 1 Compliancy Management Tool (CMT) checks. Assist LO NS in completion of biennial Base Logistics inspection.

Conduct monthly Demand Validation on MJDI, and quarterly complete the NCHQ Demand Validation Tool.

Assist the LO NS with the MJDI system, effecting repairs and troubleshooting, updating amending and adjusting as necessary. Updating the Fault Log and communicate with SPOC. Input statistical data for reports and returns as required by CMT and Navy Command Headquarters (NCHQ) for LO NS to compile and submit.

Conduct business administration and assist LO NS with account closure and to maintain a secure archive library of documentation in support of the Naval Stores MJDI account.

Conduct induction training for the Royal Navy, Service Provider and contractors and assist with on-the-job training, as necessary.

Act as deputy building controller for N010, facilitate building safety and security.

Receipt and accountability fuel cards on the MJDI account and conduct the administration and receipt of fuel invoices in support of LO NS and in preparation for NCHQ audit.

The post holder must adhere to the NBC(D) Diversity and Inclusion Policy.
