Mechanical Design Engineer

Salary: Up to £45,000 (DOE)

The Role:

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will take ownership of projects from concept to completion. This dual role combines mechanical design with project management, making it ideal for candidates seeking variety and responsibility.

Your key responsibilities will include:

1. Producing 3D designs and 2D manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks and SolidWorks PDM.
2. Conducting site surveys to gather measurements and client requirements.
3. Preparing your own Bill of Materials (BOMs), user manuals, and risk assessments.
4. Performing engineering calculations, including motor speeds, stress, and force analysis.
5. Managing projects from proposal to final check-in after installation.
6. Traveling to UK client sites, with occasional overnight stays.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives on combining technical expertise with client-facing project management.

What we're looking for in a Mechanical Design Engineer:

1. Experience in bespoke design, machine building, or heavy machinery.
2. Proficiency with CAD software—SolidWorks is preferred, but Inventor experience will be considered.
3. A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and cost-effective design.
4. Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
5. A desire to grow into a leadership or management role.
6. Experience with SolidWorks PDM is highly desirable but not essential.
