The post holder is responsible for the delivery of general practice nursing care to the whole practice population. Key elements of the role are the delivery of evidence based practice for patients presenting with an immediate nursing need or a long term condition and the provision of preventative health care to the practice population.

• Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care as indicated by patient need, including wound care, Doppler, removal of sutures/clips, urinalysis, chronic disease management, venepuncture, routine immunisations and childhood immunisations.
• Follow agreed clinical protocols.
• Uphold the standards required for Infection Prevention and Control.
• Monitor vaccine fridge temperatures and maintain clinical rooms, stocking and rotating items as required.
• Order vaccines to maintain stock levels if required and maintain accurate records.
• Attend and participate in any practice/clinical meetings and undertake home visits if required.
• Support income generation for the Practice as relevant to the role (e.g. QoF).

• Use a structured framework (e.g. root‑cause analysis) to manage, review and identify learning from patient complaints, clinical incidents and near‑miss events.
