Research Assistant / Postdoctoral Research Associate
Job summary
A prestigious research institution is seeking a part-time Research Assistant or Postdoctoral Research Associate to support a project on prehabilitation for cancer populations. The role involves conducting both quantitative and qualitative research, data management, and contributing innovative ideas. Ideal candidates will have experience in research and excellent communication skills. This fixed-term position runs for 8 months, starting by March 1, 2025, with salary ranging from £31,236 to £46,049 depending on the role.

The Role
We are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) or Postdoctoral Research Associate (PDRA) on a part‑time basis to support a project investigating prehabilitation for cancer populations in collaboration with the Cancer Treatment Outcome Programme at Durham and Darlington NHS Trust. Prehabilitation means getting someone ready before their cancer treatment, including physical activity, nutrition, mental health and supportive services. The aim of this project is to evaluate the programme and understand people’s experiences with prehabilitation.
- Work with Dr. Katie Di Sebastiano and collaborators at Durham University and the Cancer Treatment Outcome Programme.
- Conduct quantitative research, including data collection, management and analysis (essential).
- Conduct qualitative research, including data collection, management and analysis (desirable).
- Engage in regular online tasks and attend in‑person activities as required.
- Contribute to the advancement of the project through own research ideas and interpretation of the project.

This post is fixed term for 8 months due to the funding available.
The post-holder will start by 1 March 2025 with an end date of 31 October 2026.
Grade 6/7: RA Grade 6 £31,236–£37,694 per annum OR PDRA Grade 7 £38,784–£46,049 per annum.
