Job summary
A local education institution in Bolton is looking for enthusiastic Careers Advisors to support learners in making informed career decisions. The role involves delivering careers information, planning workshops, and collaborating with external agencies to enhance employability. Candidates should have a relevant degree, a professional qualification in guidance, and a commitment to safeguarding. This role offers a salary range of £30,987 - £33,034 per annum and entails 37 hours of work per week.
Qualifications
- Must hold a relevant degree or equivalent.
- Professional qualification in Information Advice and Guidance is required.
- Experience in careers guidance with young people and adults.
Responsibilities
- Deliver impartial, professional careers information and guidance to students.
- Plan and deliver high-quality group sessions and workshops.
- Coordinate careers and employability events with external agencies.

We are looking for enthusiastic, student‑centred Careers Advisors to join our Careers & Employability Team and play a key role in supporting learners to make informed, ambitious and achievable next steps.
Ideally, you will hold:
- A relevant degree (or equivalent)
- Professional qualification in Information Advice and Guidance (Dip CG / QCG/ Level 6)
- Level 2 qualifications in English and Maths
- Evidence of recent CPD related to careers guidance, employability, LMI, or Gatsby Benchmarks
- A recent background in careers guidance
- Experience of working with a wide range of young people and adults in post 16 education
Day‑to‑day you will be responsible for:
- To deliver impartial, professional careers information, advice and guidance (IAG) to prospective and existing FE, HE and adult students, aligned with the College’s Careers & Employability Strategy and supporting the achievement of the Gatsby Benchmarks.
- To plan and delivery high-quality group sessions, tutorials, and workshops embedding employability, progression pathways, and labour market information (LMI), contributing to the wider tutorial and enrichment programme.
- To work collaboratively with Curriculum Areas, employers, and external agencies to coordinate and deliver careers and employability events that support the development of career readiness and progression (e.g., HE Fairs, employer talks, industry weeks).
- To act as a specialist contact for staff, students, and external agencies regarding UCAS and HE progression, ensuring high-quality support, guidance and application processes.
- As an individual you will be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and adults at risk, and will therefore be required to undergo an enhanced DBS check.
