A leading bakery operation in Nottingham seeks a skilled Shift Engineer for a permanent night shift. The role involves maintaining production lines, responding to breakdowns, and ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Ideal candidates will have 3+ years of experience, strong fault-finding skills, and relevant engineering qualifications.

- 3+ years of experience post-apprenticeship.
- Experience in food, FMCG, or similar fast-paced manufacturing environments.
- Calm and proactive, able to work independently on a night shift.

I'm currently partnering with a leading, high-volume bakery operation in Nottingham that's on the lookout for a skilled and motivated Shift Engineer to join their team on a permanent night shift (4 on, 4 off).
This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a fast-moving food production environment where quality, reliability, and craftsmanship go hand in hand. What's the Role?
As a Shift Engineer, you'll play a vital role in keeping the bakery running at full speed overnight. From reacting quickly to breakdowns, to executing preventative maintenance and supporting site-wide improvements, you'll be essential to ensuring the ovens keep baking and the production lines keep rolling.
Your Night-to-Night Will Involve:
- Rapidly responding to equipment faults and breakdowns to minimise disruption
- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) with precision and pride
- Supporting both high-care and low-care production areas - from mixers and conveyors to ovens and packaging lines
- Getting involved in improvement and reliability projects to boost uptime and efficiency
- Ensuring compliance with food safety, hygiene, and Health & Safety standards
- Collaborating with other teams, including Production, Technical and HSE, to maintain smooth operations
What We're Looking For:
- A time-served engineer with 3+ years of experience post-apprenticeship
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding abilities
- Experience working in food, FMCG, or similar fast-paced manufacturing environments (bakery experience is a huge bonus!)
- Qualifications such as ONC / NVQ Level 3 in Engineering or equivalent
- A calm, proactive approach and the ability to work independently on a night shift
