Job summary

A transport maintenance company in Nuneaton is seeking an experienced HGV Mechanic to join their team. You will be responsible for maintaining and repairing a fleet of vehicles to DVSA/VOSA standards. The ideal candidate will have a recognized qualification and proven experience in a similar role. Title: HGV Mechanic

Location: Nuneaton

Hours: Days, Full-Time, Permanent (40 hours/week)

Salary: £17.00 - £18.00 per hour

HGV Mechanic Role

We are seeking a skilled and motivated HGV Mechanic to join our transport maintenance team. You will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing our fleet of vehicles and trailers to DVSA/VOSA standards, ensuring the highest levels of reliability and compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Carry out inspections, servicing, and repairs on HGVs, trailers, and site vehicles.
  • Conduct pre-MOT checks and ensure all work meets DVSA/VOSA standards.
  • Complete all required maintenance records and service documentation accurately.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults efficiently.
  • Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment.
  • Support the wider transport team with ad hoc maintenance or operational duties as needed.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Recognised qualification (City & Guilds or NVQ Level 3) in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance.
  • Proven experience as an HGV Mechanic or similar role.
  • Strong diagnostic and fault-finding skills.
  • Good knowledge of Health & Safety practices and workshop standards.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Full UK Driving Licence (HGV Class CE desirable but not essential).
