Job Overview

LJ Transportation are seeking to employ a dedicated and hardworking Yard Worker to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of our yard operations. This will be based at our Colchester Depot.

Monday - Friday, 8am-5pm

To be considered for this role you must have a full UK car licence and valid in date forklift licence.

Role Responsibilities

• Maintaining a clean and organized yard
• Operating machinery such as forklifts
• Assisting with inventory management.
• Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Communicating effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
• Carrying out administrative duties whenever necessary
• You will be dealing with members of the public and must have an eye for detail

Ideal Candidate

• Be competent at using a forklift (Licence Required)
• An understanding of vehicles is a must and some knowledge of the recovery sector will be an advantage but is not essential.
• Have good customer service skills.
• Computer literate
• Have a full current driving licence and be willing to be vetted by the police to fulfil contractual obligations.
• Competent reading and writing ability

Skills

• Proficiency in using warehouse management systems for tracking inventory.
• Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to perform basic equipment repairs.
• Experience in shipping and receiving processes within a warehouse setting.
• Basic maths skills for accurate measurement and inventory management.

• Capability to operate forklifts safely and efficiently, with relevant certifications preferred.
