Job description
Overview

Workshop Fleet Supervisor

This is a role for a senior Technician currently who is looking to take their career to the next level. You will be responsible for the productivity and overall efficiencies of a busy workshop. Your remit will be to oversee the day to day activity and you will be ensuring that Jobs are allocated via a card system to the Vehicle Engineers. You will also be working on the company\'s outstanding fleet of high spec bespoke vehicles, so current mechanical experience is still very much required for the role. It is anticipated that your day to day duties will be 60/40 on the spanners.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure work is carried out to correct specifications and within the required timeframes.
  • Liaise with the Parts Department to ensure the correct equipment is used to carry out repairs.
  • Coordinate day-to-day activity and allocate Jobs via a card system to the Vehicle Engineers.
  • Supervise a team of highly skilled Fitters responsible for Diesel, hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
  • Monitor and improve productivity and overall workshop efficiency.
  • Maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders, sometimes in a high pressured environment.
  • Support a range of vehicles including Heavy Goods Vehicles (HGVs), road tankers, MOD, GSE, gritters, RCVs, refuse vehicles and road sweepers.
  • Ensure compliance with DVSA standards through routine maintenance, MOT preparation, scheduled servicing, and inspections.
What you\'ll bring / Qualifications
  • Experience in a similar role within an HGV or Council Fleet workshop environment with strong commercial vehicle knowledge.
  • Very good people skills and the ability to liaise with internal and external stakeholders in potentially high-pressure situations.
  • Up-to-date with modern vehicle technologies; able to supervise staff working with Diesel, hybrid and fully electric vehicles.
  • Fully qualified (City & Guilds), NVQ or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience with vehicle transaction systems and solid IT skills.
