About the role

WorkSafe WA plays an integral role in upholding healthy and safe workplaces in Western Australia, reducing workplace incidents to ensure workers return home safely every day. We drive workplace change through education, specialist advice and enforcement.

As a WorkSafe Inspector / Investigator, you will play a pivotal role in safeguarding the health and safety of Western Australian workers by leading highly complex, sensitive, and high-profile investigations into serious workplace incidents and fatalities.

Working as part of a specialised and dedicated team within the WorkSafe Investigations Directorate, you will manage the full investigative process. This will involve :

  • Interpreting legislation and gathering evidence to assess possible breaches of the Work Health and Safety Act 2020 or equivalent legislation;
  • Conducting interviews with witnesses in accordance with legal obligations and contemporary standards; and
  • Producing quality investigative materials including compiling reports, documentary evidentiary assessments and briefs for criminal standard prosecutions.

Your strong investigative acumen, understanding of WHS legislation, and ability to manage challenging, often traumatic situations with professionalism and integrity will be key to your success in this role. You will also contribute to the development of policies, build productive relationships with key stakeholders and partner agencies, and provide mentoring and support to less experienced team members.
