Role Summary

Welder required for work on AWE in Reading

4 months work

Working pattern: 10 - 4 (Tuesday to Thursday); 11.5 hours Monday to Thursday, 10 hours Friday, Saturday & Sunday

Site bonus & Attendance bonus (T&Cs apply)

Responsibilities
  • Perform welding tasks in accordance with EN ISO 9606-1 approval requirements.
  • Carry out manual TIG (141) root welding on pipe joints in both carbon steel and stainless steel.
  • Operate mechanised orbital TIG (141-M) narrow-gap welding systems equipped with twin-camera monitoring.
  • Perform MMA (111) welding for pipe in all positions, including difficult orientations.
  • Ensure compliance with approved Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and relevant project quality standards.
  • Participate in and pass required welder qualification tests (WPQ).
  • Maintain weld quality through adherence to inspection and acceptance criteria, including visual, radiographic, and ultrasonic testing requirements.
  • Work safely and maintain compliance with site HSE rules and company procedures.
  • Participate in specialist training programs to gain competence in narrow-gap manual welding and twin-camera orbital welding.
  • Maintain a high level of cleanliness, discipline, and professionalism in accordance with nuclear industry standards (where applicable).
Qualifications
  • Level 3 NVQ / Apprenticeship / City & Guilds in Welding
  • Suitable candidates will be required to test out to ISO 9606 standards in the following:
    • Weld Process: TIG
    • Weld Positions: H-L045 / 6G – Uphill at 45° angle
    • Material: CS - Dia: 0,25” to 8” - WT: 2mm to 20mm & SS – Dia: 0,25” to 8”, WT: 2mm to 20mm
    • CSCS Card Or CCNSG (Safety Passport Ace Card)
    • Must be able to obtain or hold current Security Clearance
