Overview

Job Title: Warehouse Team Leader
Location: Birmingham
Monday to Friday 10:00-19:00
Pay: £13,46 p/h

We are looking for a Warehouse Team Leader to support the Warehouse Management team in delivering operational excellence across all warehouse functions. The Warehouse Team Leader will be responsible for motivating and supervising a team of operatives to ensure accurate and timely receipt, picking, packing, and dispatch of products, whilst maintaining a strong focus on Health & Safety, performance targets, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities
  • Assist managers in motivating and leading the warehouse team to achieve daily performance targets and maintain high service standards.
  • Monitor and enforce all Health & Safety policies, ensuring a safe working environment and immediate reporting of hazards or incidents.
  • Ensure all warehouse activities are carried out in compliance with company policies, procedures, and service level agreements.
  • Oversee the allocation of work and daily task planning, supporting the Warehouse Team Manager in achieving operational KPIs.
  • Ensure all inbound and outbound goods are processed accurately and efficiently, including goods-in, picking, packing, and dispatch.
  • Supervise team punctuality, attendance, and break adherence; report concerns to management promptly.
  • Monitor warehouse processes and team performance, identifying training needs and providing ongoing support to team members.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly warehouse audits and checks, maintaining accurate documentation for compliance purposes.
  • Ensure stock accuracy by addressing and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Maintain excellent housekeeping standards and ensure the logistics area is always well organised.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external customers to address admin queries, customer requests, and service issues.
  • Lead daily team briefings and encourage employee involvement and feedback.
  • Support return-to-work interviews and absence management.
  • Provide cover and support for Area Managers when required.
  • Prioritise and adapt to operational challenges as they arise with a proactive approach.
Key Skills and Experience
  • Proven experience in a warehouse or logistics environment in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of warehouse operations, including goods-in, picking, packing, stock control, and dispatch.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong IT skills - proficient in Word, Excel, and Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
  • Ability to manage workloads and priorities in a fast-paced, high-volume setting.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to accuracy and efficiency.
  • A confident leader with the ability to train, mentor, and develop team members.
  • Strong understanding of Health & Safety regulations and procedures.
  • Reliable, adaptable, and a team player with a solution-focused mindset.
