Overview

creative, highly talented UXO Technician III for employment in Kuwait City, Kuwait. Qualified candidates must be available to start onboarding for this assignment on November 3rd, 2025. Deployment to Kuwait will happen shortly after that. This will require completion of pre-hire support activities (drug screen, background check, etc) by mid-October 2025. In accordance with Department of Defense Explosives Safety Board Technical Paper 18 (DDESB TP-18), a UXO Technician III:

Responsibilities
  • Performs reconnaissance and classification of UXO. Identifies U.S. and foreign-guided missiles, bombs and bomb fuzes, projectiles and projectile fuzes, grenades and grenades fuzes, rockets and rocket fuzes, land mines and associated components, pyrotechnics, military explosives, and demolition materials. Supervises the location of subsurface UXO using military and/or civilian magnetometers. Supervises the excavation and recovery of subsurface UXO, construction of engineering controls, location of surface UXO by visual means, transportation and storage of UXO assuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws, disposal of UXO by burning or detonation, determines UXO-related storage compatibility, and supervises PPE donning/doffing and maintenance and operator checks on all team equipment.
  • Prepares UXO-related administrative reports and maintains a daily logbook.
  • Conducts daily team safety and task hazard analysis briefings.
  • Current driver’s license required; position may use an AECOM-provided vehicle and/or personal vehicle for company business.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen.
  • Valid US Passport through 11/2026.
  • Participate in and successfully complete a post-offer, pre-employment fitness for duty exam in accordance with 29 CFR 1910.120; must receive a medically "qualified" fit for duty result letter indicating the employee is medically qualified to conduct work activities at the jobsite.
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER; 8-hour OSHA Supervisor (initial); current 8-hour HAZWOPER refresher.
  • US citizenship is required due to the nature of the work.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Graduate of a military EOD assistant course; or an accredited UXO technician training course; or military EOD school of the US, Canada, Great Britain, Germany, or Australia.
  • On-the-job training including familiarity with the process, procedures, and equipment (e.g., geophysical) used for MEC-related activities.
  • Military EOD school graduates: 1 year minimum MEC-related experience, 8 years total EOD and MEC experience.
  • Accredited UXO School graduates: 8 years minimum MEC-related experience.
  • Graduate of an OSHA-compliant (Section 1910.120(e)(4) of Title 29, CFR) 8-hour Management and Supervisor Training Course.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Explosive Ordnance Disposal certificate
