Overview

Job Title: Undergraduate Submarines Structural Engineer

Location: Barrow (Cumbria)

Length of contract: 12 months

Start date: 22nd June 2026

Qualifications

As a minimum requirement you'll need to have obtained, or be predicted to obtain, a 2.2 in your Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant STEM subject, Structural, Mechanical or Civil Engineering.

Responsibilities
  • You'll join an exciting team who work throughout the whole Submarine life cycle, from concept through to activities with the operational fleet.
  • Supporting the Structural Design of Submarines.
  • Outfit design - including sheet metal, deck coverings, furniture, and fittings, to ensure a habitable submarine environment.
  • Designing equipment to withstand shock and dynamic movements of the submarine whilst in operation.
  • Lifting Arrangement Design and oversight of submarine movements
  • Structural and Stress Analysis.

Salary: £24,300
