United Autosports – McLaren Hypercar Programme Full-time | Global travel | Data-driven, procedure-led role
If you’re the type of technician who thrives on precision, discipline and consistency — and who understands that tyres are one of the biggest performance differentiators in endurance racing — this is the role for you.
As a Tyre Technician, you’ll take ownership of all tyre operations across the Hypercar Programme. Tyre management is critical: pressures, temperatures, allocation, preparation, logging, rotation and degradation all directly influence performance, strategy and reliability.
You’ll work in close collaboration with Race Engineering, Strategy, Performance and the wider garage team to ensure tyres are prepared and managed to perfection.
Managing allocation, rotation, storage and preparation of all dry and wet tyres.
Setting, adjusting and validating pressures and temperatures with absolute accuracy.
Conducting tyre checks pre- and post-run, logging condition, wear and anomalies.
Working with the Strategy and Performance teams on tyre life, stints and performance trends.
Maintaining heating equipment (blankets, ovens), calibration and safety standards.
Labelling, tracking and documenting every tyre to programme standards.
Supporting fast turnarounds during sessions and reacting calmly to late changes.
Ensuring tyre areas are impeccably organised, safe and professional.
Previous tyre tech experience in high-level motorsport (WEC, ELMS, GT, F1, FE or similar).
Ability to deliver exceptional consistency under time pressure.
Understanding of tyre behaviour, degradation and performance fundamentals.
Strong communication and collaboration with mechanics and engineers.
A disciplined, structured and reliable approach to process-heavy work.
If you’re meticulous, calm under pressure and love being the unseen force behind performance — this is your place.
