Are you looking to make a difference as a Transport Manager?

We're recruiting on behalf of Southern Health and Social Care Trust to recruit a Transport Manager.

The jobholder will be responsible to the Head of Specialist Services for the delivery of high quality transportation of service users and non-patient services for all directorates within the Southern Trust area. They will be responsible for the operational management of a number of transport departments. They will ensure the objectives of the Trust's Delivery Plan and the Division Balanced Score Card for Transport Services are successfully implemented through effective multidisciplinary working in a collective leadership model.

The role:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Trust's Transport Service, ensuring alignment with corporate objectives, statutory requirements and best value principles, while overseeing all operational, financial and governance matters.

  • Lead the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of safe, high-quality, customer-focused transport services to support patient and client care, including fleet procurement, maintenance and compliance with licensing obligations.

  • Develop and deliver key objectives, policies, programmes and contingency plans, ensuring full compliance with statutory standards, health service guidance and internal Trust procedures.

  • Manage budgets, resources and contracts efficiently, applying value-for-money techniques, meeting financial targets and contributing to the Trust's business planning and capital investment priorities.

  • Provide clear leadership, direction and workforce planning for transport staff, fostering a motivated, skilled and flexible team culture that promotes innovation, continuous improvement and high performance.

  • Establish and maintain effective communication, governance, quality management and risk assurance frameworks, ensuring robust reporting, performance monitoring and user engagement.

  • Represent the Trust at regional and external forums, building collaborative relationships with public, private and voluntary sector stakeholders, and contributing to the Trust's wider corporate governance objectives.

The Person

As the successful candidate you will have the following background and experience:

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a management role.
  • Hold certification in either Road Haulage/Road Passenger Transport.
  • Hold a current drivers license.
