Overview

Our Health in Justice service line is expanding into non-Custodial healthcare, a person-centred approach with infrastructure to assess individuals' mental health and neurodiversity requirements, and to redirect them to the most appropriate channel. We have an exciting opportunity for a Support Time and Recovery Navigator to join our team in West Yorkshire.

As a Support Time and Recovery Navigator, you will support the daily engagement of people across the Liaison and Diversion Service to help them navigate the Criminal Justice System. The role covers access to identified health needs including substance misuse (alcohol and drugs), mental and physical health, homelessness, learning disabilities, exploitation, safeguarding and social care issues.

Location: West Yorkshire Region - DL required

Salary: This full-time, fixed-term role is 37.5 hours per week, with a salary of £28,247 to £32,346 depending on experience. Hours: 08:00 – 20:00 coverage (37.5 hours per week). This is a 1-year fixed term contract.

Candidates must have a legal right to work in the UK. Offers of employment will be subject to additional vetting and security checks.

Main duties of the job

As a Support Time and Recovery Navigator, you will:

  • be part of an extended team working across the Liaison & Diversion service
  • liaise with a wide range of services such as the police, probation, courts and legal services, as well as inpatient and community health and social care services
  • provide daily support to individuals in touch with children and adults, including hard-to-reach communities, to engage and navigate through the Criminal Justice System
  • support access to identified health needs (substance misuse, mental and physical health, homelessness, learning disabilities, exploitation, safeguarding and social care issues)
  • provide practical support to individuals and families, advocate, and enable access to agencies including probation services, community-based organisations, clinics, courts, mental health services and hospitals

Qualifications, skills and experience required
  • Level 3 NVQ/Diploma in Health and/or Social Care or equivalent experience
  • Experience of working with service users, face to face, with a variety of health needs
  • Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to gain appropriate level of consent
