Job description

A Sterile Services Technician is responsible for the decontamination, inspection, assembly, and sterilisation of medical instruments and equipment used in clinical procedures. The role ensures that all reusable items are processed to the highest standards of cleanliness and safety, supporting infection prevention and enabling healthcare teams to deliver safe patient care.

We currently have two vacancies available to join our team. Please note that both roles will also include some weekend and bank holiday work. We kindly ask you only apply if the following hours are acceptable, as no alternative working hours can be offered at this time.

  • Monday to Friday, 14:00–22:00
  • Monday to Friday, 16:00–00:00 (midnight)
Key Duties
  • Decontaminate medical instruments using approved cleaning processes and equipment.
  • Inspect instruments for damage, completeness, and cleanliness.
  • Assemble instrument sets according to surgery or department requirements.
  • Package and wrap instruments for sterilisation.
  • Operate sterilisation equipment, such as autoclaves, washers, and dryers.
  • Monitor and record sterilisation cycles to maintain full traceability and compliance.
  • Store and distribute sterile sets to clinical areas in a timely manner.
  • Follow strict infection prevention and control protocols at all times.
  • Report faults or damaged equipment to senior staff.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and adhere to quality assurance procedures.
