Overview

The Sports Communications Specialist is responsible for playing a leading role in all aspects of our communications plans across Sport with a strong focus on Motorsports events and athletes (2-wheel, 4-wheel) as well as Watersports (Surf, Kitesurf) and Adventure (Climbing) topics taking place across the Sports Marketing calendar. They will work directly with colleagues in the Communications team, but also more broadly with the wider Red Bull UK marketing department including the Programming (Social & Owned channels), Creator, Content, Sports, Brand and Commercial Partnerships team. They will be responsible for growing brand love by engaging new and existing consumers with authentic, innovative, and engaging storytelling linked to our Sports assets (Athletes, Events, Content projects, etc…) as well as building relationships with key media partners and influential voices (note, creator relationships are held with our Creator Marketing team). They will be responsible for designing and delivering a year‑round communications plan, informed by their passion and knowledge of the audiences and media landscape within. They will also contribute to new athlete project and event ideas for the following year and beyond.

Responsibilities
  • Identify, develop and activate communications activities to raise awareness of and leverage Red Bull's Events, Athletes, Content and International Series across all sports.
  • Create engaging content and stories from athletes for placement in earned media as well as on Red Bull owned and managed channels (The Red Bulletin, redbull.com, Red Bull social channels). Include production and distribution of editorial content, photography and moving images, as well as managing agencies to drive earned coverage. Identify opportunities, build relationships with key media partners and influencers across the sports landscape, and track media coverage and KPIs to guide future priorities.
  • Collaborate with Red Bull Media House colleagues within the wider network group (Programming and Moving Image) to drive network growth and deliver on marketing objectives.
  • Coordinate and communicate all playground activities, with holistic calendar planning in cooperation with the Programming team. Identify assets (events, athletes) from the wider world of Red Bull to leverage for network growth. Serve as the clear first point of contact for playground activities within the wider marketing department and the global business.
  • Drive athlete development and media strategy, including owning relationships with the athlete roster, building rapport and trust to understand their personal goals, collaborating with the Athlete Marketing team to develop long‑term media strategies, and working with athletes to raise their profile and deepen their association with Red Bull while communicating their product usage on key occasions.

  • Experience activating communications campaigns for sporting events with solid media contacts.
  • Appetite for driving innovation in an evolving media landscape, with strong emphasis on earned social.
  • Experience working with athletes/sports teams.
  • Creative, organized, driven and results‑oriented.
  • Adaptable and flexible to change on short notice.
  • Strong affinity with the Red Bull brand.
  • Travel 10–20 %.
